What they say

'Over-subsidised and wasteful of public money.'

David Cameron

'...our cultural heritage is at great risk from inappropriately sited wind turbines and wind farms.'

Dame Fiona Reynolds, Director General of the National Trust

'Absolutely useless, completely reliant on subsidies and an absolute disgrace.'

Duke of Edinburgh

'If you have worked hard all your life, bought a house and it is your only asset and someone tries to build a turbine next to it, to accuse them of being a nimby is grossly unfair.  Environmentalists need to be neighbourly too.'

Tim Smit, creator of the Eden Project in Cornwall

'There have been some installations in insensitive or unsuitable locations - too close to houses, or in an area of outstanding natural beauty.'

Greg Barker - Minister for Climate Change

'This agenda is driven by energy companies who have become subsidy junkies.'

Helen McDade, Head of Policy at the John Muir Trust

‘…the arrogance and greed that has characterised the wind industry from the outset has caused it to ride roughshod over local concerns.’

Geoffrey Lean

'The dream of environmentally friendly energy has turned into highly subsidised destruction of the countryside.'

Der Spiegel

'How is it that wind, with a 4000-year head start, is such a small player in the energy scene? Could it be — just possibly — that the answer has something to do with physics instead of economics and politics?'

Dr. Howard Hayden

'Apparently, paying high long-term subsidies for uneconomic energy sources is 'sustainable' … who knew?'

Willis Eschenbach - Commentator

'No energy when it’s too hot;
No energy when it’s too cold;
No energy when the wind’s too strong;
No energy when the wind’s too weak.
This Goldilocks approach is not the answer to our energy needs!'

Stop Litlington Wind Farm Action Group

Summary

The Litlington Wind Farm project plans to create an industrial scale wind farm in the rural parish of Litlington, South Cambridgeshire.

The plans call for the siting of wind turbines 100 metres tall – that’s taller than Big Ben, and there would be 5 of them.  To put this into local perspective, each would be more than 6 times the height of the Litlington church tower.  The wind farm would be located around half a mile from the nearest houses and promises to dominate the village and the surrounding landscape.
